Lochinvar Corporation, a leading manufacturer of high-efficiency water heaters, boilers, pool heaters and storage tanks, introduces the Double Duty, a gas water heater that doubles as a space heater.
Like other residential water heaters from Lochinvar, the Double Duty heats water for domestic use and stores it in a triple-tested, glass-lined storage tank. While in the tank, the domestic hot water transfers heat to a glass-coated heat exchanger. Within these tubes, water for space heating is circulated and heated. This internal heat transfer allows the Double Duty to serve two purposes: it provides hot water for domestic use while maintaining a comfortable space temperature through hydronic or radiant heating.
Available in atmospheric or power-vented models, the NAECA-compliant Double Duty offers an input range of 63,000 - 76,000 Btu/hr and 50 - 75 gallon capacities. Standard features include non-CFC foam insulation that minimizes standby losses and maximizes heat retention, an aluminum tank saver anode that protects from the effects of electrolytic corrosion and dielectric nipples that shield the tank from corrosion and provide piping convenience.
The Double Duty also features a double wall heat exchanger that separates heating fluid from domestic water and provides a visual alert should a leak occur in either tube. Lochinvar offers a ten year limited tank warranty on the Double Duty, as well as a six year warranty on parts. "The introduction of the Double Duty water heater further illustrates Lochinvar's commitment to manufacturing innovative, high quality products that make sense for our customers," states Jeff Vallett, executive vice president
